Biography

Originally from Palm Bay, Florida, Bobby grew up surrounded by all kinds of music. His parents were choir directors at their church and taught him how to sing from an early age. He sang in high school and collegiate choirs, as well as praise and worship at his local church. He took up private piano lessons at the age of 12, and has continued to cultivate the instrument throughout his collegiate studies. It wasn't until he saw the movie Up in 2009 that Bobby considered a career in music composition. He fell in love with the sounds of the orchestra, how each instrument contributed to the overall music, and how it could tell its own story. So Bobby began to experiment with works of his own. His inspirations include John Williams, Michael Giacchino, Aaron Copland and John Adams. His woodwind quartet, entitled Boosha!, won First Place in the Stetson University Composition Competition in 2018. He graduated from the Stetson University's School of Music in May 2019, earning his Bachelor of Music Composition under Sydney Hodkinson and Manuel de Murga. Bobby's most recent work, Alleluia for SATB choir, will be premiered by the Stetson University Concert Choir in their upcoming season. He has also worked as a musical director for Insomniac Theatre Company's production of Evil Dead the Musical in Ocala, FL.
